“Who are you?” success from the Faculty of Fine Arts!


Istanbul Gelisim University ( IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts students achieved another success. The film project “Who Are You?” by the Radio, Television and Cinema Department students won the Lift-off Filmmaker Sessions and Lift-Off Sessions - Pinewood Studios selections.


The Faculty of Fine Arts offers its students the opportunity to take part in many projects and gives direction to their future careers. A new one has been added to the student projects that stand out with their short film projects and achieve success in the national and international arena. The short film "Who Are You?", written and directed by Mustafa Çağatay Türkmen, a third-grade student at the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, started its journey to the festival. Serkan Aldüz, a third-grade student from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, starred in the film that won Lift-off Filmmaker Sessions and Lift-Off Sessions - Pinewood Studios selections. Radio, Television and Cinema Department students Onur Karakuş, Emir Akarslan, Mert Hakan, Reyhan Eftelya Turu, Beyzanur Yüksel, Hilal Tatar, Melek Çetinkaya took part in the film, which conveys the conflict of good and evil in everyone's personality and the experiences of a character struggling with this conflict.



“Who are you?” is the expression of dull and boring times!

Mustafa Çağatay Türkmen, who is the screenwriter and also the director of the film, stated that he started to write the script when he was in the first grade, the time the atmosphere of the pandemic prevailed all over the world. He also indicated that they carried out team work and they thought for a long time about how to best convey the issue to the audience.

The “Who Are You?” team, which determined the elements that would best convey the film to the audience at the script stage, used cinematographic elements such as color, music and framing. Turkmen described the coldness of the film as an expression of the dull and boring times.
The team, which succeeded in integrating all techniques into the film so that the audience could identify with the character, proved their success with the news of two selections they received as soon as they started their journey to the festival. Türkmen stated that they are excited about the success they have achieved and that they continue to work as a team on the next projects with the same high motivation.
