Winners Have Been Awarded at The Great Offensive International Short Film Festival


Winners have been awarded at the Great Offensive International Short Film Festival, where Director Ahmet Bikic, lecturer at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts, Communication and Design, was the director of the Festival.


Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great Offensive, the award and gala ceremony of the Great Offensive International Short Film Festival, organized under the auspices of the Afyonkarahisar Governorate, with the contributions of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Cinema General Directorate, was held at the Atatürk Congress Center.
 
3055 FILM APPLICATIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM 116 COUNTRIES

At the ceremony, Afyonkarahisar Governor Assoc. Dr. Kübra Güran Yiğitbaşı, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek, Afyonkarahisar Deputy İbrahim Yurdunuseven and Afyonkarahisar Deputy Ali Özkaya gave a speech by emphasizing the importance of the Great Offensive International Short Film Festival.
A total of 3055 films were submitted to the festival from 116 countries. Director Muhammed Furkan Daşbilek became the winner with his movie "On A River Bank" among the 24 films that made it to the finals. Murat Can Yağbasan won the second prize with his film "Apology", while the third prize was awarded to Director Muhammet Beyazdağ with his film "Everything In The Garden Is Rosy". The Best Screenplay Award with the scenario named ‘’Mission Accomplished Soldier’’was given to Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş, who is a Rector at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University. The Jury’s Special Award was given to Director Harun Üyüklü for his work "Gardaş( Brother)", whereas The Great Offensive Special Award was given to Director Yılmaz Kıvanç for his documentary "Heyamola/ Road to Freedom".
 
STUDENTS FROM IGU ALSO PARTICIPATED

Within the scope of the festival, the students at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts took part in many fields. While Işıl Gündoğdu was the coordinator of the festival, Melike Söalp, Melike Özkarakaş, Enes Dalgıç, Polat Bakırtaş, Hande Pala, Ecem Gürol, Yağmur Erdoğmuş and Sercan Ersin took active roles in various teams such as shooting, organization, sound and news writing.
In the program, besides the video screening, the awards were presented to the artists who supported the festival and valuable names who contributed. After the magnificent award ceremony, the valuable artist Esat Kabakli gave a concert.
