The documentary "Payas" to be shot at the historical Sokollu Mehmet Pasha Complex


The "Payas Film Workshop", which will be organized by Payas Municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University, starts on January 6th.


"Payas Film Workshop", which will be organized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University Fine Arts Faculty under the coordination of the Payas Municipality Culture Directorate, starts on 6 January. The high school students who attend the 3-day training will start at the Sokollu Mehmet Pasha Complex*, which was built by Mimar Sinan by the grand vizier of the time, Sokollu Mehmet Pasha.

STUDENTS TO INTRODUCE PAYAS THROUGH THE DOCUMENTARY

High school students, who will participate in the workshop, will take part in the documentary film works about Payas under the consultancy of their trainers so that they have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned on the last day of the Payas Film Workshop.

After the workshop, the footage shot by the students will be edited by Istanbul Gelisim University and the screenings of the documentaries/short films prepared will meet with the audience at the gala to be held in Payas. Certificates will be presented to the participating students.

Mayor of Payas, Bekir Altan, who made evaluations about the film workshop to be held in Payas, said, “I am an educator-based mayor who has completed his 22nd year in the mayorship, I believe in the eternity of learning. Every event where art, science and technology meet with young people is an indescribable happiness.”

Mayor Altan said, “As Payas Municipality, we work with the desire to develop and advance our city in better areas with our investments in education, the reward of our investments with our awards in the scientific field, our history, the effort we put into our historical heritage, our industry, our laborers working in the industrial sector, our industrialists. I believe that the Payas Film Workshop, which will be organized by our municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), will open new horizons for the promotion of our city and our youth, who are the guarantee of our future. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the project.”

The project coordinators of the workshop are IGU Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp and and the media communication coordinator is Saygı Ünlü. Additionally, Assoc. Dr. Nagihan Çakar Bikic, Lect. Director Ahmet Bikic is the workshop director, Okan Kırbacı and Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts students Enes Dalgıç and Polat Bakırtaş are in the technical team, and Res. Asst. Ayten Bengisu Cansever, Res. Asst. Başak Lale and Res. Asst. Büşra Kamacıoğlu are in the design team.
