The 3rd Banking and Insurance Student Symposium has been held!


The 3rd Banking and Insurance Student Symposium was organized by the Banking and Insurance Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.


The symposium aimed to encourage undergraduate students to actively participate in academic research, thereby contributing to the literature in banking and insurance. It focused on engaging undergraduate students in the learning process and contributing to the sustainability of quality education. The organizing committee of the symposium included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Özcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lokman Kantar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mete Bumin, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ertuğrul, Asst. Prof. Dr.Tayfun Timuray, and Research Assistant İlknur Külekçi from the Banking and Insurance Department of the Faculty. Both online and face-to-face participation opportunities were provided for the symposium."

The presentations of TUBITAK projects were conducted

At the symposium, presentations were given on TUBITAK 2209-A University Student Research Projects supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Özcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lokman Kantar, and Lecturer Ayşegül Ertuğrul from the Banking and Insurance Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Additionally, presentations were delivered on TÜBİTAK 2209-A projects for which applications were made under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Çelik and Asst. Prof. Dr.Onur Türker from the Department of E-commerce and Management.

The best presentations were awarded

At the conclusion of sessions moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Özcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mete Bumin, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ertuğrul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tayfun Timuray, participation certificates were presented to the paper presenters. The top five papers specific to the third symposium were announced:

- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Koçak, Deputy Dean, awarded the Best Paper to İrem Karahan for the paper titled "An Examination of the Causal Relationship Between Bitcoin and Exchange Rates in Turkiye,
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Görsev Sönmez, Vice Dean, granted the Second Best Paper award to Rozerin Abdüssemetoğlu, Yaren Eroğlu, and Melisa Özhim for their paper titled "An Analysis of the Performance of the Turkish Banking Sector in Pre- and Post-Pandemic Periods Based on Bank Groups,
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Özcan, Head of the Banking and Insurance Department, presented the Third Best Paper award to Ferhat Tünçer, Gül Özdemir, and Mustafa Bilgin for their paper titled "An Examination of the Relationship Between BIST 100 Index and Gold Prices in the Context of Portfolio Approach,
- The Fourth Best Paper award was given to Semanur Turhan and Bahar Atayoğlu for their paper titled "An Application on the Active Development of the Turkish Banking Sector in the Years 2018-2022: Focus on Participation Banking," and the Fifth Best Paper award was presented to Simge Bostan and Beyza Köksal for their paper titled "An Investigation of the Relationship between Financial Risk and Enterprise Value: An Application on Sustainability Index.
