Protocol visit from Iraq to IGU: Steps were taken for academic collaborations


Continuing to progress with the vision of "World University", Istanbul Gelisim University held a meeting with the delegation from Iraq in order to contribute to the development of Türkiye-Iraq relations and to realize academic collaborations.


Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan and Head of Corporate Communications and Promotion Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Bülent Değirmenci attended the meeting held in the office of IGU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli. A meeting was held with the advisor to the Iraqi Prime Ministry for Education and Training Affairs Dr. Adnan Al-Sarraj, Head of Iraq Communications Team and Advisor to the Prime Ministry for Media Affairs Mr. Ammar Moneim, Members of the Prime Ministry Education Department Dr. Usame Muhammad Kadir, Mr. Hamza Muhammad Saeed, Abdel Hadi Mahoudar and Maitham Al-Lami and President of IALD.  After the meeting, a plaque was presented to the delegation from Iraq by IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin.  

Training will be organized throughout the summer months for students coming from Iraq

During the meeting, where important steps were taken for the development of relations between Türkiye and Iraq, issues such as publishing academic publications and exchanging students and academics between the two countries were discussed. Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), which recently received recognition from Baghdad, has approximately 800 students from Iraq. The delegation from Iraq also talked to Iraqi students studying at IGU and listened to their problems. Acting with the vision of "Research University", IGU's achievements, especially in the fields of engineering and economics, attracted great attention. The delegation from Iraq stated that they wanted to get information about the research centers within IGU and various scientific fields.  IGU promised students coming from Iraq that it would organize training every week in the academic fields they need during the summer months. After discussing the planned collaborations, a souvenir photo was taken.
