Play therapy training continues in Diyarbakır

In cooperation with Diyarbakır Ergani Guidance and Research Center and Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), trainings called 'Filial Therapy', which developed to understand the inner world of children, are ongoing.

The training called 'Filial Therapy', organized in Diyarbakır and given by Psychotherapist and Psychological Counsellor Elif Macit, is carried out face-to-face in cooperation with Diyarbakır Ergani Guidance and Research Center and Istanbul Gelisim University.

“THE PURPOSE IS TO UNDERSTAND THE CHILD'S INTERNAL WORLD THROUGH PLAY”

Making statements about filial play therapy, Psychotherapist and Psychological Counsellor Elif Macit said, “It is an approach that aims to strengthen the relationship between children aged 3-10 and their parents by using play, and both to prevent the formation of problems and to solve existing problems. The aim is to teach parents to play therapeutic play with their children, to understand the inner world of the child through play and to follow its development. In this way, parents have information about their children's development, their emotional world, and they gain a new skill that they can use after the therapy ends.”

“MOTHER AND FATHER ARE INCLUDED IN THE PROCESS”

Expressing that play therapy directly involves parents in the process, Macit said, “The therapist teaches parents how to structure special playtimes, guides them on how to conduct their own game sessions and understand what their children mean through play. This acceptance-based relationship that children establish with their parents through games enables them to develop their problem-solving skills, increase their self-confidence and better express their emotions.”
