IGU student attracts art lovers with her exhibition that combines psychology and art

Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Psychology (English) 4th grade student Feyza Sema Mete's solo exhibition Lotus Reflections: Spiritual Healing and Awareness, combining her academic knowledge in the field of art and psychology, attracted great attention.

Feyza Sema Mete, a student in the Department of Psychology (English) at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, exhibited her works on psychopathological disorders and the healing process in her solo exhibition titled "Lotus Reflections: Spiritual Healing and Awareness".

Feyza Sema Mete stated that she received great support from Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Kenan Aydın, Psychology Department Head Gülşen Filazoğlu Çokluk, Faculty of Fine Arts Department Head Prof. Dr. İsmet Çavuşoğlu and Asst. Prof. Dr. Aman Sado Elemo, who discovered her works.  Mete stated: “In my art, I focus on the parts that hide behind the beauties rather than the beauties of life. I wanted to convey the spiritual pain and healing process in my works.''

The lotus flower, which grows in muddy and swampy areas, known as Purification, rebirth and cleansing of the soul, symbolically represents the removal from harsh conditions, the artist explained. Stating that she wants to raise awareness about psychological diseases, IGU student Feyza Sema Mete stated that the drawings in the exhibition express mental pains and emphasize healing with the lotus flower metaphor.
