President of the Aksakallar Delegation of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) Binali Yıldırım, deputies, local government representatives, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Gelisim University Abdülkadir Gayretli, Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin and academicians participated to the opening of the 2024-2025 Academic Year and Honorary Doctorate Appointment Ceremony. In his opening lecture at IGU, the last Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Binali Yıldırım, conveyed the political situation of Türkiye in the last 20 years and gave information about the work of the Organization of Turkish States and its contribution to Türkiye. inali Yıldırım, who conveyed the studies in the field of technology and industry in Türkiye in the opening lesson, shared important information about the importance and development of artificial intelligence.
Binali Yıldırım was unanimously decided to be awarded the title of Honorary Doctorate in the field of ‘Political Science and Public Administration‘ by the university senate due to his duties as an administrator, deputy, minister, prime minister, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and his current duties in the organization of Turkish states and his services to Turkish politics and democracy. At the ceremony, Binali Yıldırım received his diploma from Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin. 



Binali Yıldırım: IGU continues to progress in every field

Binali Yıldırım, ''We listened to many achievements from our Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Rector, such as from where international achievements came to where in a little over 10 years; the potential of active students reaching 38 thousand, and the number of 7 thousand international students. Istanbul Gelisim University is a very young university, however, it has achieved close success with well-established universities in Türkiye in the world rankings in terms of education and has even surpassed them in some areas. In other words, the university continues to progress like its name. This happens if there is someone diligent behind it. Therefore, I would like to thank our Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli for his support for education. The investment in education is made for the future. You build buildings, factories, roads, bridges. These have a lifetime, 50-100 years, but the investment in people continues from generation to generation."



Binali Yıldırım: Türkiye is always open to threats and opportunities in its region

Binali Yıldırım, who made a statement about the death of Feto Leader Fetullah Gülen at the ceremony, said:
"On the night of July 15, we fought with our President for our homeland, land, independence and democracy. The great nation that was with us in this struggle. Unfortunately, we had martyrs, veterans. We wish God's mercy to our martyrs and a healthy life to our veterans. The promoter of it now gone, but do not let this make us complacent. Türkiye is always open to threats and opportunities in its region.''



Abdulkadir Gayretli: I believe we will be in the 800-1000 ranking in the world next year

Abdülkadir Gayretli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who draws attention to the success of IGU in the QS 2025 rankings, which evaluates European and West-Asian universities in areas such as global recognition, research skills, teaching resources, and internationalization, stated, "Our university achieves significant successes nationally and internationally. In QS 2025, where we took part as Istanbul Gelisim University, we achieved a significant success as the 411th in the European Ranking. We have proven once again that we are moving forward with the vision of "World University" by maintaining our 13th place among universities in Türkiye and 4th place among foundation universities.  I sincerely believe that we will continue these successes. We will succeed to invest in our future, especially in Türkiye. Our 1001-1200 ranking success in THE Times Higher Education World University Rankings is a representation of the steps we have taken for our future success. From now on, we will achieve good things by taking on responsibility with honesty and diligence. I believe that we will be in the 800-1000 rankings next year and in the top 500 in the next process."



Prof.  Bahri Şahin: We stood out in 10 fields in YÖK University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2024

Underlining the success of IGU in 10 fields in YÖK (Council of Higher Education) University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2024, Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin said, "Istanbul Gelisim University, which aims to develop innovative solutions and increase social benefit by giving special importance to our education and research activities, has come to the fore in 10 areas by achieving significant successes in YÖK University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2024. We maintained our first place this year with the highest number of accredited programs.
